Dawn Of The Dead in 3-D, For Realsies.

It's true. You will be able to see that image in lovely 3-D. Awesome. I mean that, AWESOME. I can't imagine anything that is something that could actually happen that would be cooler. Maybe as cool but not cooler. Dawn Of The Dead in 3-D is maxed out. 10 on the cool meter.

Here's a blurb from The Hollywood Reporter.

New Amsterdam Entertainment has tapped 3-D company In-Three, which will use its proprietary "dimensionalization" process to turn the 1978 indie horror flick movie into 3-D. The project is expected to be completed within the year.

Here's some more about the Disemsionalization <<<<MORE ABOUT IT>>>  I guess the main deal is that it can convert a normal 2-D image into 3-D one that doesn't cause the eye strain typically expected with a 3-D movie. Don't ask me how. Read the link. I did and didn't really leave understanding it. I guess it's kind of secret.

They expect to have the movie out by the end of the year. I don't imagine that they'll play it here in Santa Rosa. Prolly have to head to SF to check it out. That's one of the advantages to living in the city. You have more variety of theaters.  Beer serving ones, ones with couches, ones that play Dawn Of The Dead in 3D.

Dig this.... Conversion of legacy material using the process starts at about $50,000 per minute and can reach more than $100,000, depending on the complexity of the imagery in terms of visual effects and other elements.

Yoiks, that's quite a bit. If I had that kind of coin laying around I wonder if I'd spend it on converting Dawn Of The Dead into 3-D. What am I saying? Of course I would. It might actually be the first thing I did if these guys didn't already do it...
