I See Robots Radio 30: Yar's Revenge

Hey dudes and chicks. This week's, well this quarter of a year's edition of ISR Radio is a goodie. There is tons of cool hip-hop and some bits based around the Atari 2600 game Yar's Revenge. I was way into Yar's back in the day. I really dug/dig that battle-fly type insect right up there. I mean, how rad? He has like a Gatling Gun on his paw or whatever it is on a bug, tendril? I don't know, and he has some sort of energy cannon on his snout ( In his snout ?) to boot.

In Yar's Revenge you are some sort of bug like creature who is attacking this circular structure in space. First you have to break through a barrier, after that you shoot your cannon at this structure's sweet innards and blow that deal to smithereens.
There is a story involved about aliens defending their space from an evil attacker or something like that. I don't want to look it up. I remember that the cartridge came with a mini comic and that at the time I liked the story quite a bit.
I also remember reading somewhere that Yar's revenge was the best selling cartridge for the 2600. That seems hard to believe. I would think that it was E.T which totally sucked, but everyone seemed to have. I gave in and looked it up and check this out... Yar and E.T where actually designed by the same dude! Fella by the name of Howard Warshaw.
I think that I'd actually be pretty stoked to have had a hand in E.T's creation just due to it's ubiquity. I mean that piece is EVERYWHERE! I prolly see a baker's dozen of them at every flea market that I go to. Seriously.
Oh, according to the sometimes correct Wikipedia Yar's actually was the best selling cartridge. How about that? Good for you Yar. Good for you.
