UFC 137 Predictions....

Hey ya'll, here is something that I haven't done in awhile. Some Official ISR UFC picks..! The card of course got less awesome when GSP took a sick day and opted out of fighting Carlos Condit. That's fine. It's not like I was looking forward to that fight or anything. I am not the biggest GSP fan around. That title goes to my buddy Cory. He rides GSP's sack like no one's business. He also LOVES him some Rashad Evans so you know, his character is a bit in doubt.

Anyhow, here is how I see it going down...

Hatsu Hioki Vs. George Roop.. I'm thinking that Hioki is going to take this one but you never know what's up when a Japanese fighter is involved. The scene over there is more akin to pro wrestling so you never know what actual skills the dude brings to the cage but Roop is not related to Florida wrestling great Bob Roop so I figure he's going down. Hioki 3 round decision.

Scott Jorgensen Vs. Jeff Curran.. I'm going Curran on this one. I find Jorgensen's skin condition a bit off putting. He's a good fighter though but I think Curran's experience will pull him through. Curran Submission round 2

Mirko Crocop Vs. Roy Nelson.. Sadly Crocop's best days are long past. Frankly he looks like a blown up middleweight when he's out there with UFC heavies. I'm thinking that Nelson get's him down after testing Mirko's stand up for awhile and finishes him in the 2nd with some Ground and Pound. Mirko's chin hasn't been all that great for awhile now. Nelson 2nd round TKO

Cheik Kongo Vs. Matt Mitrione. Mitrione reminds me of this dude Andy that used to work for the library with me. Andy wasn't tough though so I have a hard time seeing Mitrione as a hard guy. I still think he's gonna win this fight. Kongo is French and that's a big assed minus as far as fighting is concerned. Despite being a Frenchman Kongo is not versed in the manly art of foot fighting, Savate. Because of that bit lacking in his holster I'm gonna pick Mitrione by sub in the 1st round. A Frenchie can't tap soon enough when captured in a grip. Mitrione Sub 1st round.

BJ Penn Vs. Nick Diaz. This is an interesting fight. Penn usually overwhelms fools with his superior striking but I just can't see him out boxing Diaz. I reckon that Nick is going to Stockton Slap him bloody over the course of three rounds. I really don't think that the fight will ever go to the ground. It might but usually when two dudes are great ground fighters the fight never gets to the mat. Look at any NCAA wrestling champ vs. NCAA wrestling champ fight. They always turn into boxing matches. Diaz is just too quick and precise with his boxing. Penn is on the downside of his career. I think he's going to have a real long night. Diaz 3rd. Decision
