Robocop VS. The Terminator
A long time back a friend of mine asked me who would win a fight between Robocop and The Terminator. I was all like "Terminator stupid. He killed like a whole police station full of cops. It's not like if one of them was a robot that would have made a big difference or anything."
Even though I easily as dismissed his question it has haunted me more then I would have ever let on. I have almost literally thought about Robocop VS any number of movie and literary characters at least a couple of times a week since then. So with out further ado I am pleased to announce a new feature here at I See Robots.... ROBOCOP VS....
Now, I know that I'm not the first dude to come up with this idea. There have been comics and all sorts of other media that explore the "who would win between" universe. Still though I feel it's worth exploring
Naturally I plan on starting the first battle off with the idea that started it all on that fateful rideon the way to bowling league night. Robocop Vs. The Terminator.
So here we go let's beging with an examination of who might be a more complete robot .The Terminator comes from the far flung future where as Robocop comes from the more near future which might actually be the present day nowadays.
I'm not sure of the actual year Robocop is set in and if you know don't feel like you have to tell me. I don't care that much. Anyhow, I give the advantage to The Terminator. He is far more high tech than Robocop. I mean come on, Robocop isn't even a robot. He's a cyborg. and flesh is a weakness.
Next let's move on to weaponry. Robocop has a really bad assed pistol where as The Terminator has to scavenge for arms. I give the advantage to Robocop. Unless The Terminator somehow finds a gun that's better than Robocop's in which case, advantage Terminator but for the sake of this little post here I'm going to say Robocop wins the armaments category.
One area that Terminator has all over Robocop is that he is a killing machine and Robocop's prime directive is to be a policeman, a high powered police but still his programming is for policing. I think that's the main reason that Robocop bites the big one in this battle. Terminator terminates while Robocop protects and serves.
If this is a one on one battle Terminator tears Robocop a new one no question. It might be different if there are innocent citizens involved though. Robocop might be able to pull out some extra gusto when people's lives at stake. I don't know if the gusto would be enough to put him over a Terminator but it might enable him to do more damage than he would have otherwise but in my head I see him lying down his life to get the innocent to safety before being able to take down a T-800.
Ok, so in my opinion and this is only my opinion the T-800 takes out Robocop all day everyday. Robocop has got heart though, he'll make a fight of it. Maybe he'll be able to drop The Terminator once or twice before being put away but in a battle between a killing machine and a police robot, I'm going to go with the killing machine everytime..
